Secure-the-building modes have been lifted at both Nokesville Elementary School and Brentsville District High School. All students and staff are safe. The secure-the-building protocol was implemented briefly during police activity in the area. |

Literary Club
Purpose: To read and share good books.
Membership: Open to all students, faculty and staff.
Literary Club Goals to:
· Increase interest in reading school wide
· Support the school’s literacy goals
· Improve SOL scores
· Improve communication skills
· Increase the use of technology
· To add popular new books to the library collection
· To develop lifelong learners
Books
Members of the Literary Club will make suggestions and help select books. An emphasis will be placed on the Virginia Reader’s Choice books as well as lists of award winning books and book reviews from School Library Journal.

· Meetings will take place on the First Wednesday of every month.

· Time: 2:00-3:00
Events
Recruitment Period: Current members will visit English Classes; make posters and announcements for membership in the Literary Club.
Field Trip: Members, who attend at least 3 meetings and/or complete 3 book endorsements, may attend the Literary Club field trip in the spring.
Spring Breakfast. Members will vote on their top 5 favorite books.
